StarBoxOffice.com Review

The film begins with the murder of a woman in Delhi whose body is found the next day. No one knows who she is but her murder has the women of Delhi perturbed. Ajay Devgan (Rajveer) plays the infamous Delhi cop known more for lining their pockets than doing their job. On the other hand Ayesha Takia (Sehar) plays a dubbing artist who has a habit of forgetting things. Arshad Warsi (Ballu) plays a tourist guide/private taxi driver while Irrfan Khan is an aspiring actor.

One Saturday night Ayesha goes out clubbing with her best friend played by Anjana Sukhani. After the mandatory song – an item number by Tusshar Kapoor - shot in the bar, we cut to Ayesha waking up and opening her door to find to her surprise two packets of milk when there should be just one for the next day. Similarly she finds that quite a few things don’t match the day as it should. Soon enough Ayesha is being chased through the streets of Delhi by Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan who want their 400 rupees for taking Ayesha out on Saturday night as well as by another group of goons wanting to kill her. But Ayesha can’t recognize any of them and has no clue what is going on. Finally Ayesha approaches Ajay to help her fight off the goons and find out exactly what is going on. When Ayesha recounts the activities of her night out with Anjana she finds that she can’t remember what has happened after having reached the bar on Saturday night to waking up on Monday morning.

What took place that night at the bar, why doesn’t Ayesha remember anything, who are the goons behind her and what exactly happened on that missing Sunday from Ayesha’s life is what the rest of the film is all about.

Rohit Shetty’s Sunday offers a perfect mix of fun, spills and thrills. Irrfan in his act of a struggling actor is brilliant. His perfect timing with Arshad Warsi leaves you in splits. Although the first half leaves you a bit confused because it jumps from one scene to another too quickly, the second half more than makes up for it. Rohit has managed to ensure that film remains fast paced but still tightly held through out. Ajay Devgan leaves you a bit disappointed with his act – he almost comes off lazy in his acting. Tusshar Kapoor and Esha Deol make surprise entrances for item numbers and leave you yawning.

All in all Sunday is not a bad way to spend your weekend!
